Tinnitus

Tinnitus in Pompano Beach, Coral Springs, Fort Lauderdale, FL

An annoying ringing or swishing sound in either ear can be a sign of tinnitus. Most individuals will suffer from tinnitus at least once in their life, and although it’s not harmful, there are chronic cases where the sound can be disruptive.

There is no direct cause of tinnitus, but it is usually a symptom of an underlying issue. The most common cause of tinnitus is loud noises that causes temporary ear damage, such as a loud concert or sporting event. Other causes of tinnitus can include aging, jaw misalignment and hearing loss. In very rare cases, tinnitus can be caused by a tumor on the acoustic neuroma, or the nerve that sends sound signals to the brain.

In most cases, tinnitus will go away by itself and medical attention is not necessary. However, if you are experiencing chronic tinnitus, Dr. Lapco can provide a resolution for this nuisance. Call our office today and schedule an appointment to find out about your treatment options.
