Strep Throat

Strep throat is when the throat and often tonsils suffer from streptococcal bacteria. There are many symptoms for strep throat, which include severe sore throat, painful swallowing, swollen tonsils or lymph nodes, and white or yellow spots on a red throat. It can also be accompanied by a fever over 101 degrees F.
Strep is highly contagious for 2-5 days and it should be diagnosed through a physical examination by your doctor. Strep throat is typically treated through prescription antibiotics and clears up 3-7 days. It’s important to begin medication and treatment as soon as possible to avoid the bacteria from spreading to others.  Dr. Lapco’s Pompano Beach office is located in Broward County just 10 miles from Coral Springs and 12 miles from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
